Driver Training & Tests

Our New Training Option

The C+E training course consists of two tests, the 3a reversing and uncoupling/recoupling test and 3b on road test. The 3a must be passed before the 3b can be taken. Normally both elements would be completed during your intensive training.

From experience, we’ve seen how much pressure this puts on learners. If someone struggles with the 3a practice, it can take up valuable driving time, which is needed to prepare for the 3b road test. The result? Learners may not feel ready for the road test, or worse — they might not be able to take it at all.

That’s why we’re now offering a more flexible training path.

You can now choose to train specifically for the 3a reversing and uncouple/recouple test and complete that stage first. Once you’ve passed the 3a, you can then book focused 3b road training sessions, confident that all your time will be spent on driving skills — not reversing.

Why consider this option?

  • No pressure to rush the reversing element

  • More time to focus on mastering road driving

  • Flexibility to learn at your own pace

  • Increased chances of passing both parts confidently

If choosing the route of separating the 3a and 3b training we would advise people who have a little experience of operating with trailers to start with a minimum of 4 hours 3a practice, people with no experience are recommended to start with 8 hours.
